Quick Keeper Refresher

A quick refresher on our keeper rules

Note: I plan on putting out the leagues full Constitution, as I am calling it. In the meantime I thought it would be wise to get the keeper rules up so that everyone can decide who they want to keep by the April 3rd deadline; also since I am not sure when I will fully be able to complete the Constitution.

Note: The following rules apply to only those players that appear on the rosters currently. These rules do not apply to any players not yet drafted or who were not on a roster at the end of last season.

Regular Keepers

  • Any player that is not listed as a rookie may be kept for the price that is listed in the team roster sheet.
  • Teams may keep:
    • Up to 3 Regular Keepers regardless of postion
    • It is not required to keep any players
  • Players designated as keepers will remain on rosters until after the Fall Auction Draft
  • Note that any player kept will have their price for being kept next year increase by $7

Rookie Keepers

  • Any player that is as a rookie may be kept for $5.
  • This is limited to two players per Rookie Rights window and does not include any rookie that is drafted this year through the rookie draft.
  • Rookies have a three year window (Rookie Rights)
    • Rookie Season Cost =$0, players drafted through the rookie draft are free
    • Year One (Sophomore Season) Cost=$5, players playing in their second season
    • Year Two (Junior Season) Cost=$5, players playing in their third season
  • After three seasons rookie rights no longer apply and the player may then be kept under Regular Keeper rules.
  • To qualify for the Rookie Rights a rookie must be:
    • Drafted in the Rookie Draft
    • Remain on a team(s) roster for the duration of each season
    • Example: A player drafted two years ago is only eligible for Rookie Rights if he has never been placed on the waivers, that is that he has remained on a roster for the previous two years.
  • Please remember that Rookie Rights are transferable. As long as the rookie never appears on the waiver wire they retain their Rookie Rights status even through trades.

Maximum Keeper Example

If I had three Regular Keepers, two Year One Rookies, and two Year Two Rookies then my keepers would look like:

  • Regular Keepers = $X, the total price for all three keepers
    • 3 Players
  • Year One Keepers = $10, each rookie costs me $5
    • 2 Players
  • Year Two Keepers = $10, each rookie costs me $5
    • 2 Players
  • Total Number of Players Kept = 7
  • Total Roster Spots for a Season = 18
Teams may keep any number of players they wish. Keepers are not required of any team. If you have any questions please let me know. **Also remember that your keeper choices are due to Kyle via email by April 3rd at 5:00pm MST !**
